The Week in Tech: Google in the dock and verify on Bluesky
Marketing Week’s weekly round-up of the technology stories that impact the marketing sector: from AI to martech, regulation to public perceptions.

On the agenda…
Google must be sick of the sight of courtrooms right around now.
The tech giant was dragged in front of the federal court last week (17 April) for the ruling in yet another antitrust case raised against it from the US Department of Justice. This time Google has been found to have violated antitrust laws in the advertising technology market and of “wilfully acquiring and maintaining monopoly power”.
The decision puts an end to a two-year running saga between Google and the courts. It means the search giant has lost another antitrust case after failing to persuade the court it hadn’t created a monopoly in the search market. The remedies for that case have already begun with the Justice Department pushing for Chrome to be divested from Google and unbundle Android from certain devices.
