The Week in Tech: ChatGPT Atlas shakes things up and the AWS outage
Marketing Week’s weekly round-up of the technology stories that impact the marketing sector: from AI to martech, regulation to public perceptions.

On the agenda…
ChatGPT has finally unveiled its AI-powered web browser to the public as the tech firm makes it strongest move yet to break Google Chrome’s search dominance.
ChatGPT Atlas is essentially a hybrid form of its ChatGPT search engine with a traditional web browser. You can enter a web URL into the search bar and be taken to that website. So far, so Ask Jeeves. What makes Atlas stand out is that it also opens a ChatGPT ‘companion’ screen at the same time, so you can ask it directly to explain anything on the webpage or search for the best deals.
There’s also extended functionality which lets users pick up searches from a few weeks ago and continue where they left off. This, again, is done by prompting ChatGPT, which will recover the relevant data and restore the customer journey.
